Hi Delores:
Thomas Bryden was born abt 1756, Whitehaven, Cumberland, England and was
christened October 15, 1761 at the James Street Scotch Presbyterian
Church, he died abt. 1851, Pipers Cove, Cape Breton. He had one
brother, John, who was christened November 21, 1764, and one sister,
Isabella, christened September 4, 1759, both at the James Street
Presbyterian Church. Their parents were Thomas and Jane Bryden.
Thomas had one son, Thomas, born 1810 at Dorchester, Nova Scotia, now
Antigonish, died 1893, Pipers Cove. He married Christie MacDonald in
1834 at Pipers Cove. I have them having nine children as follows:
(1) John (Ian Thom), b-Feb 11, 1837, Pipers Cove, m-Sarah MacLeod,
b-1838, Benacadie Glen, Cape Breton, then Katie Comefort, b-1852, East
Bay, Cape Breton. John was a merchant and mail carrier lived near the
Iron Bridge at Benacadie. He had four children.
(2) Elizabeth, b-1840, Pipers Cove, d-May 10, 1874, m-John MacLean (my
Great Granduncle on my MacLean side), Islandview, Cape Breton. She died
after giving birth to daughter - Mary Ann.
(3) Joseph (Miller), my Great Grandfather, b-September 15, 1842,
d-October 18, 1918. First m-Theresa MacMillin, b-1844, d- September 8,
1873, at Christmas Island, Cape Breton, died seven days after giving
birth to Mary Ann. Second wife, Anne MacInnis, b-1845, d-1930 at Grand
Mira, Cape Breton, married April 25, 1875. They had nine children
including my Grandmother, Mary Sarah Bryden.
(4) Mary Ann, b-1844, Pipers Cove, m-Nov 16, 1869 to Peter MacNeil,
b-1841, Pipers Cove. They had five children.
(5) Michael, b-1857, Christmas Island, Cape Breton, m-Nov 13, 1871 to
Margaret Gillis, b-1851, Northside East Bay. They had six children. He
later married Ann MacNeil, b-1853 and had one more child. Michael was a
farmer.
(6) Angus Andrew, b-abt. 1851, Pipers Cove, m-Feb 3, 1874 to Sarah
MacDonald and later to Mary MacNeil. I have Angus having six children.
(7) Peter, b-1853, Pipers Cove. Married April 15, 1877 to Sarah
MacNeil, b-1855. They had five children.
(8) Ann, b-1854, d-Jan 29, 1948. Married Alex C. MacNeil, issue five
children. Then married Hector MacNeil.
(9) Flora, b-1854, Pipers Cove, m-Feb 17, 1878 to Rory MacLean (another
MacLean Granduncle), b-1846. They had seven children.
I have Angus' daughter, Mary Agnes, born - January 7, 1882 at Pipers
Cove being married to Cedric Quinn. I have them having one child,
Bernard, b-abt. 1908 at Pipers Cove and d-Oct 12, 1988.
I don't have anything on the Ann that you referred to that died young,
do you have anything else on here?
I'd appreciate some feedback on names, spelling and dates if you have
anything that differs. I do have much more info on the descendants of
all the above. If you have some specific information you are looking for
just let me know and I'll see if I can help. I would appreciate some
info and vital stats on your family, your husbands immediate family, his
parents, and Grandparents if known.
On another note, wats yer father's name? I figure your parents are from
Cape Breton as well, is that correct?

Does anyone find a connection to this branch of the family? I don't have
many dates as you can see, and need clarification on where Thomas Bryde n, jr
was actually born. Any suggestions where to find this information? Than
so much for all the tips so far. We are still looking for a place to st
