Individual Details
Joseph G. Laphen
(Abt 1866 - )
According to the 1891 census for District 28, Cape Breton County,
Subdistrict 16, Town of Sydney, done on April 28, 1891, and viewed on
Ancestry.com, his parents were Joseph G. (age 25) and Annie Laphen (age 23). Joseph G. Laphen was born in the United States of parents who
emigrated from Ireland. His wife was from Nova Scotia, but both Joseph
P. (age 2) and his younger brother John J. are listed as having been
born in the United States, so if that's correct, they left for Sydney
after February of that year because John J. is listed as two months old
in the census (I am viewing the actual page, not a transcription).
Joseph G.'s occupation is painter. Annie's maiden name is not given.
