The beautiful old chapel of St. Joseph's Convent, Flushing, was the scene of a Solemn Mass of Requiem on June 15 for Sister Mary Ida Siggins, C.S.J.,´iª ´/iªwho had devoted 42 years of a long Religious life to the care of the girls of the old St. Joseph's Home on Kissena Boulevard. The cele-brant of the Mass was Rev. Thomas Casey, pastor of St. Camillus Church, Rockaway Beach, assisted by Rev. Francis J. Flynn of St. Michael's Church, Flushing, as deacon, and Rev. Edward F. Hudson, pastor of St. Michael's Church, Flushing, as sub-deacon. Also present In the Sanctuary were: Rt. Rev. Msgr. John D. Wynne, Rt. Rev. Msgr. William J. McKenna and Rev. Charles M. Cunningham. Burial was in Mount St. Mary's, Flushing. Msgr. Wynne and other priests intoned the Benedictus at the grave. The aura of peace which pervaded her obsequies was characteristic of Sister Mary Ida's 55 years of joyful dedication to the service of God, including a period of seven years at St. John's Long Island City Hospital. Her declining years were spent at the Motherhouse in Brentwood, until illness necessitated her return as a patient to St. John's, where she died on June 13. Sister Mary Ida is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Edward Fitzgerald, Mrs. F. Wood, Mrs. A. Bongiovi, Mrs. F. Fisher, and Mrs. L. Foote; also by a brother, Joseph Siggins."funeral
