Obituary of Frances Elizabeth Price SalesTri-City Herald on June 10, 2016
FRANCES ELIZABETH SALES, known as "Bettie" to all who knew and loved her, returned to the creator on June 7th 2016...one day before her 88th birthday. Her beloved husband of nearly 63 years, William "Bill" Leland Sales, Sr., held her hand as she peacefully slipped away. Bettie was born in Seattle to Winnfield Stevenson and Hazel (Bessex) Price. She had an older brother named Bud.
The family moved to Central Valley CA where she grew up. She attended college at Woodbury in Los Angeles, then transferred to Sacramento State College. Sometime after, she returned to Central Valley where she met and married her best friend and soul mate, Bill.
They had an adventurous life together in many different places. They lived in Idaho Falls, ID for a time then came to Kennewick in 1974 where she worked for the Kennewick School District until 1982 when they followed Bill's job to South Korea and the The Philipines.
They returned to the U. S. and built their retirement home in Lake County, CA. She went to work for the local high school in the counselor's office for many years. They returned to Tri-Cities in 2001, but would snowbird to Palm Desert, CA.
Bettie was an avid reader and an advocate for literacy. While in Korea, she tutored English and made recordings for the local cab drivers. She was a girl scout leader and a 4-H leader, and volunteered at the Richland Public Library.
Bettie is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and daughter, Suzanne Lee. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Sales, son William L. "Bill" (and Cheryl) Sales, Jr., daughter Martha L. "Marty" (and Tim) Lacy, grandchildren Josh Lacy and Laura (and Derek) Bilodeaux, and great grandchildren Asher and Nova Petersen, and Anton Bilodeaux.
The memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Kennewick on Saturday June 18th at 2:00. Please come and share your stories of Bettie.
