Obituary of Mary Reeves Hale Jones

Mary Reeves Hale Jones, a longtime Baltimore County teacher and librarian, died of respiratory failure May 28 at her Ellicott City home. She was 78.

Born Mary Reeves Hale in Spring Valley, Virginia, she moved to Rosedale in Baltimore County in 1954 and taught mathematics and chemistry at several high schools until 1964.

She was a school librarian from 1964 until she retired in 1978.

She graduated from Longwood College in Virginia in the 1930s and received a master's degree from Catholic University of America in 1964.

Her husband, Robert Emmitt Jones Jr., died in 1971. Mrs. Jones moved to Ellicott City in 1990.

She is survived by a son, Robert E. Jones III of Ellicott City; a daughter, Mary Anne Gebler of La Plata; two sisters, Virginia June Hale Vaughan and Jane Hale Gentry, both of Spring Valley; and five grandchildren.
