Robert F. Luther

Robert F. Luther, 88, of Portsmouth died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Hill View Health Care.
He was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Minford, Ohio, to the late John V. Luther, Sr. and Eula Clark Luther.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II.
He was the former owner and operator of Luther Transfer Inc.; a member of Second Presbyterian Church; and life member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. He was a life-time member of Boy Scouts of America and attended four world jamborees and eight national jamborees. His life was his work and the Boy Scouts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Wittenburg Luther, June 25, 1995; two brothers, John Luther, Jr. and George Clark Luther; and one sister, Leta I. Childry.
He is survived by two nieces and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, in the chapel at Second Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Stanley Webster officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service.
