William Delbert "Bill" Elder

William "Bill" Delbert Elder died December 24, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV where he and his wife Jackie had lived for several years. Bill was born in Reno, NV on June 26, 1921 to Delbert and Albina Ginocchio Elder. During his early years his family located to a ranch at Derby, now "Painted Rock", NV. Bill attended a one room school in Derby where his mother was the teacher. Later he was a student at Fernley High School. The family returned to Reno and in January of 1942, Bill joined the United States Marine Corps. His second Marine Division saw action in the South Pacific theatre of war. Upon his discharge Bill returned to Reno.
In 1946 he and Jacqueline "Jackie" Thompson were married and made their home in Reno and raised their family. Bill was a truck driver and eventually owned his own trucking line. After retirement Bill and Jackie moved to Hawaii for ten years. They relocated to Las Vegas in recent years. Throughout their retirement years they traveled extensively. Bill was a loving father and husband. He will be dearly missed not only by his family but by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Lauren Elaine and his sister, Madge Schendel. Surviving are his wife, Jackie of 60 years, his daughter, Caryn Elder, his sister Rae Audrain and many nieces and nephews. No services were held.
