A service will take place at a later date in Roanoke, Va., for Ruth W. Nelms, who died Nov. 23, 1996, at age 88.
Mrs. Nelms was born April 16, 1908, in Richmond, Va., where she was raised and educated. Her maiden name was Wallace. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Roanoke and attended Roanoke College.
She founded the Cornett School of Business in Roanoke. Her husband, Robert, died in 1978. In 1979 she moved to Seattle. where she was a deaconess at a Presbyterian church. She moved to Portland six years ago.
Survivors include her daughter, Anne Johnson of Vancouver, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Roanoke. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon Health Sciences University Foundation for Osteoporosis Research. Arrangements are by Hennessey, Goetsch & McGee Mortuary.
