Obituary of Donald G. MastersonDonald G. Masterson, 83, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away May 15, 2008.
Don was born in Cass County, Missouri on December 1st, 1924 to Roy and Lucile Masterson. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Marjory; his children, Bill Masterson (Phoenix, AZ) and daughter, Donna Kiefel (Spokane, WA); three grandchildren, Brandon, Spencer and Lara (Phoenix, AZ); as well as his brother, Melvin; and sister, Rosemary.
He proudly served his country as a radio operator on the B-29 Superfortress in World War 2 ("K33") and Korea. He graduated from high school in Louisburg, KS in 1942.
He graduated from college at New Mexico State University in 1951 with a degree in Civil Engineering, a career he then pursued for 35 years before becoming an owner of two service stations in Phoenix, Arizona.
Don loved traveling, especially to the 330th Bomb Group reunions and trips to Hawaii. His family, friends, flying buddies, and woodworking were his greatest joys in life.
Contributions may be made to the Louisburg High School USD #416 Endowment (P.O. Box 734, Louisburg, KS, 66053) in memory of Donald. Visitation will be at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel (6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ, 480-991-5800) on Sunday, May 18th from 5 to 8pm. Graveside services will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ) on Monday, May 19th at 10am.
