Notes
Military
Described as laborer who was 5 feet 10 1/2 with a fair complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair.Death
Newton's death was recorded in the bible of his cousin Sarah Overly Wheeler. Daughter of John Overly and Sarah Thorpe. It's possible that Sarah Thorpe, even though she spelled her name differently, was the sister of John S. Tharp. This would have made Sarah and Newton double cousins.Endnotes
