Death
Died in a typhoid fever outbreak that later took his son, Edwin, and his brother-in-law, Douglas Simer.Lemhi Herald August 18th 1910 Salmon, Idaho.
Richard Marion Neafus died in this city, Thursday of typhoid fever. He had been a resident of this place for about four years, and was an industrious and well-liked young man. He came to Salmon with a wife and one son, but in 1907 just three years to a day before the husbands death, his first wife died, the mother of the child, a bright littlle boy. Almost two years ago he was married to Mrs. Rosie Simer Truex, and to them has been born one child a boy. The widow who had one child when she was married at Salmon now with three chidren, survive him. He also leaves a father and a mother, three sisters and one brother. The father W.H. Neafus of Woodside Mt, and twin sister, Mrs. Mable Reynolds of Washington state, were at this bedside at the time of his death. The funeral a sad one, was held at the Presbyterian Church at two o'clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. Geo. H. Perry preaching the services. The deceased was an owner and had a third interest in the "Treasure Box" group of mining claims, which promised to bring rich returns, as a gold producer. Richard and Sarah "Sally" Adams Neafus (his first wife) and baby Mable Clair are buried in the Salmon Cemetery.
