Israel and Remember lived in Dutchess and Ulster Counties in New York and then moved to Washington County, Virginia. Israel (or his son Israel) was a signer of the Articles of Association in New Paltz, Ulster County, New York.
Will of Israel Cole
In The Name of God Amen. I, Israel Cole
of the State of Virginia and County of Washington, being very sick
and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be
unto God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and
knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make
and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul
into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body
I recommend to be buried in a decent Christian burial
at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at
the general resurrection I shall receive the same again
by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly
Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in
this life. I give devise and dispose of same in
the following manner and form first I give and bequeath to my
beloved Son Thomas Cole the one half of my land to wit the
East Side. Also I give to Reufus Cole one two year old
heiffer and one spotted sow. Also I give to David Cole
one Ewe and half a lamb and the remainder of my Estate
to be equally divided amongst my grandchildren which
I shall name Joanna Thomson, Hannah Main, Dorkes
McClure, Eunish Roush, Eleazar Cole, John Cole, Freelove
Thomas, Joseph Cole juner, Keziah Cole, Samuel Cole,
David Cole, Elizabeth Done, Masa Eldridg, James
& Phillip Cole, Sarah Cole, Israel Cole, _____ Stuart,
Eleazar Cole, Mary Cole, Sabees Main whom I likewise
constitute make and Ordain the sole Executor of this my
Last Will and Testament all and separately my Lands and
Tenements by them freely to be possessed and enjoied and
do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and
every other former testamonials Wills Legacies Bequeaths
and executors by me in any ways before named willed and
bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to
be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness who
I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this thirteenth
of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven
Hundred and ninety two.
