Samuel Druckenbrod was born in Pennsylvania and was in Stark, Ohio by age 17. He married Elizabeth Bair. He was a farmer and day laborer. He and his wife had 12 children. Samuel's brother Allen also married into the Bair family. The Bair, Harter, Druckenbrod and Bowman families were first in Pennsylvania, then in Ohio.
