Individual Details
William M. Vance
(3 Mar 1822 - 7 Sep 1910)
His obituary (Oshkosh Northwestern, 10 Sep 1910) said he "came to Wisconsin in the year 1850, settling in Winnebago county, and with the exception of a few years, the family has lived for that long period in the town of Algoma. Mr. and Mrs. Vance had nine children, six of whom are living and there are also ten grandchildren. The Vances descended from good New England stock in which the pioneer type was strongly marked. Up to four weeks ago, Mr. Vance had never called a physician and had he lived until the latter part of next month, he and the surviving widow would have celebrated the sixty-fifth anniversary of their wedding."
