A biography published in the Danville, Ill., Evening Commercial on 26 Aug 1893 and reprinted in Vermilion County, Ill., Pioneers: II said: "John and Jane Boggess . . . came to Vermilion county from Virginia, their native state, in the early pioneer days, settling on a farm near Catlin, where they lived loved and respected by all who knew them, until their decease many years ago."
