Susannah Harding Orchard and possibly her 2nd husband, Jacob Orchard likely converted to the LDS Church in England, along with her children in 1845 (and maybe as late as 1853). However, only Susannah and the children immigrated to America -- after Jacob's passing.Susannah Harding Orchard followed her oldest three daughters from her 1st husband (James Orchard) to the Utah Territory.Martha Ellen Orchard (age 25) was married and living Wyoming as early as 1863 but we do not know which overland Company she was attached to; She may of been married as early as 1859.Sarah Ann Orchard (age 23) migrated to Utah as early as 1859 but we do not which Company she was attached to either. In the 1860 census it shows Sarah Ann married to George W. Kelsey in Tooele Utah. Her first child was born in 1860.Naomi Orchard (age 21), migrated to Utah in 1866 as part of the William Henry Chipman Company (1866).Susannah Harding was a widow from Wiltshire, England. She traveled as a single-parent with 5 of her younger children (ages 14-22) to Salt Lake City as part of the John Gillespie Company (1868) . Although the Perpetual Education Fund (PEF) record may indicate that she died on the trail she actually made her way eventually to Lewiston, Utah. The 1880 Census shows her living in Salt Lake City with Naomi & William Sanders. She died in Lewiston, Utah and was buried in the Logan Cemetery, Logan, Utah in 1888.
