From the New Hampshire State Papers, Volume II, Page 99:
"B.II.p.89
At a Council held at Hampton, March 20th, 1693:
Present - The same:
Ordered, That ______ Haynes, Francis Sherlott, Jeremiah Walford, Wm. Sharp and John Cross be settled and appointed to keep watch at their Majties Fort on Great Island, and that they constantly attend their duty at the Fort, and that they be allowed their Majest pay.

John Cross' Last Will and Testament is located in the New Hampshire State Papers, Volume XXXII, Page 216:
"JOHN CROSS 1724 PORTSMOUTH
Portsmouth in newhampshir in New England Aprill the Second day 1724 the last will and testament of John Cros being very Sick and weak in body but in perfect memory
first I bequeath my soul to god to him that gave it and to dispose of it at his good will and pleasure as he sees good in his dew time
Secon I give unto my Dear wife all my moveable Estate both with in doors and out
thirdly I give unto my Son Joseph My house and land after my deseas and my and the descas of my Dear wife
forthly I give to my sons George Joshua and John five shillings to each
fiftly I give to my Dafters Mary and Lida and to my grandafter Mary Cros five shillings to each
lastly I apoint my son Joseph to be my excexeter and to pay all the above legacyes within one year after my deseas and to bury me Christian like
