Asaph BUTLER

(17 Mar 1729/30 - 1806)

Asaph was enumerated in Windsor, Vermont, on 28 March 1771 and he with many others of Windsor, deeded his land to Colonel Nathan Stone to aid in his securing a confirming New York Patent for the town. Colonel Stone did receive the patent and deeded Asaph's land back to him in November 1772. This land was on the west side of Sheddsville Hill, now in the town of West Windsor. Asaph was chosen for a town committee on 15 June 1775.
Asaph moved to Weathersfield after the townsmen signed their Association Agreement on 31 July 1775. He served as a selectman there in 1778 and 1781. He was involved with the problem of the town minister in 1779 and 1782. He was taxed there in 1781, 1782, and 1787.
Asaph is titled a Reverend in the FindAGrave Memorial but this writer has found no documentation supporting it.
