The 1885 Iowa State Census has her living in Waukon, Allamakee County, Iowa with her husband and two children.
The following obituraries appeared in unknown newspaper publications:
" MRS. CATHERINE MAGOON. Mrs. Catherine MaGoon was born in Galena, ILL., February 17, 1851, and died at her home in Waukon Saturday, October 31, 1899, after an illness of over two years, aged 48 years 8 months and 4 days.
Her maiden name was Fitzgerald and she came to this county with her parents when five years old. On December 7, 1868, she was married to Joseph McGoon and four children were the fruit of this union. One child has preceded her to the other world and three remain to mourn her loss - Henry, Lilah and Harry. She leaves also three brothers and one own and three half sisters, Geo. Fitzgerald in Washinton, Jerry and John of St. Paul, Margaret Dawson, Anna Padden and Miss Nellie Fitzgerald, of St. Paul and Mrs. Mary Flynn, of Nebraska. She joined the Presbyterian church April 13, 1899."
"DIED - At her home in Waukon, Oct. 31, 1899, after an illness of nearly three years from consumption. MRS. CATHERINE MCGOON, aged 48 years, 8 months and 4 days. Catherine Fitzgerald was born at Galena, ILL., February 17th, 1851. When she was about five years of age her parents moved to this county, and here the most of her life has been spent. December 7th, 1868, she was married to Joseph McGoon, who with three children - two sons and one daughter - Henry, Harry and Lilah, remain to mourn a loving wife and mother's departure. She also leaves three brothers, one sister and three half sisters to remember her many virtues. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church of this city with which she united on profession of faith April 13th, 1890. The funeral services on Monday at that church were largely attended. Rev. Vannice officiating. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the community."
