"Payne, Wesley (9 April 1903 – 15 June 1942)
Wesley Payne, age 39, for the greater part of his lifetime a resident of Neillsville, passed away at the Bradley Memorial Hospital, Madison, on Monday June 15, 1942, at 8:30 p.m. after an illness of several years’ duration.
The funeral services will be held from the Jaster Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Friday June 19, followed by the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. William A. Baumann will officiate, with burial taking place in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Payne was born in Crawford County April 9, 1903, to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Payne, who survive him. He was married to Verna Schaele in Chicago on March 1, 1924.
Surviving him are his wife and five children, Myron, Eunice, Earl, Merlin and Norma Jane; a brother Ervin, Rochester, Minn.; and six sisters, Mrs. M. Cranston, Mrs. M. Cray and Mrs. A. Squire, all of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. P. Harried, Alma Center; Mrs. Frank Short of Neillsville, and Mrs. Leah Pickett of Black River Falls."
