From "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial, "Joseph, son of Maturin Ricker, lived in Somersworth, New Hampshire. On March 22, 1730, he and his wife Elizabeth were admitted to the Dover First Church and later were dismissed to the Somersworth church [Note: 22 Mar 1730]. Afterwards he lived in Berwick, Maine. His will was dated January 19, 1771, and proved December 10, 1772: he mentioned his wife and all his children except Sarah and the first Joseph. He married (first) November 16, 1720, Elizabeth, daughter of Jabez and Dorcas Garland. He married (second) at Berwick, December 17, 1761, Mary May. Children: John, born in Dover, August 21, 1721; Sarah, February 3, 1723-24; Noah, baptized at Dover, July 20, 1726; Joseph, bapotized June 9, 1728, died young; Mehitable, married Samuel Rackett; Tristram, married Agnes Chick, was aged ninety-six years in 1830; Joshua, mentioned below; Jabez, born about 1741; Joseph, born in Berwick, December 9, 1746."
From the Ancestry of Thomas Lovell and His Wife Mary Ellen Ricker, "Joseph Ricker, son of Maturin, lived first in Somersworth, New Hampshire. He was admitted (with wife Elizabeth) to the Dover, New Hampshire, church, 22 March 1730, and both were afterwards (no date given) dismissed to the Somersworth Church. He was one of the committee for building the first meeting-house in Somersworth in 1729. He afterwards lived in Berwick, Maine. He married (1) 16 November 1720, Elizabeth daughter of Jabez and Dorcas Garland . . . [Jabez Garland was killed by Indians as he was returning from church on horseback.] He married (2) in Berwick, 17 December 1761, Mary May. [A Gideon May and Mary Stone were married at Berwick, 17 November 1725.] The Somersworth records having been destroyed, and the Berwick church records having commenced in 1755, the absence of dates of birth and baptism of the later children is accounted for. He died at Berwick, 2 December 1772. His will dated 19 January 1771 shows that he was well endowed with worldly substance, mostly in farms, which he distributed among his numerous children. To two of his sons, Tristram and Joseph, he gave his Berwick homestead and his negroes, whose ashes repose in the family burying-ground of their former masters."
