The birth date of Ann is uncertain. The various census reflect different circa birth years, i.e., 1818, 1814, 1817, and 1803 although her newspaper obituary indicates 1817.
From the Ingham County Democrat, Thursday, June 16, 1887, Page 5, Column 2:
"Died. At Morenci, Mich., June 10th, of dropsy of the heart, Ann L., wife of Thos. J. Brown, aged 69 years and 9 months.
She was born in 1817 at Penfield, New York, but her parents soon moved to Chatauqua, where in 1834 she was married to Thos. J. Brown. They came to Michigan in 1840 and located at Delhi, being about the first to settle in that locality. About 1876 they came to this city, where they have continued to reside until within the last few months. At the time of her death, she was stopping at Morenci, Mich., where she has a brother and three sisters, still living near the place of their father's home in later years. She was converted early in life and joined the M. E. church, of which she remained to the day of her death a devoted member. She was one of the first to aid in the establishment of a church and Sabbath school at Delhi Center, and in her death we lose an old pioneer. The funeral services were held last Sunday at Morenci, Mich., where amid a large circle of relatives and sorrowing friends, she was laid at rest."
