John RANDALL

(btw 1630/40 - 25 Feb 1718)

From History of Robert Randall: "John b. probably at Weymouth, between 1630
and 1640; d. Feb. 25, 1718. He lived for a while in Braintree, but most of his life was spent in Weymouth; a wheelwright by occupation. By his father's will John Randall received two-thirds of the pasture land lying in the Range Field, of about nine acres,
with two acres of swamp lying between his own land and the land of his brother Thomas ; bounded by Joseph Dyer and Thomas Drake. Also one-half of the fresh meadow lying between his own dwelling house and his father's orchard, together with seven acres of the first division of Weymouth town commons. This was lot
No. 66 in the division of 1663; and he appears at the time of his father's death to have been a householder in Weymouth. The record of land conveyances contains no information respecting John Randall, no deed to or from him appearing to be of record. His will dated Dec. 28, 1715, was proved April 7, 1718. In it he calls himself senior, late of Weymouth ; wheelwright. He gives to wife Sarah £30 provided she acquit the estate of any claim by reason of an ante-nuptial contract. Gave to daughter, Mary Philips, £45 ; to daughter Mercy Kingman £45 ; to daughter Read (Hannah), wife of Thomas Reed, £45 ; to daughter Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Orcutt, £35; to son-in-law, Benjamin Ludden, five shillings, and to grandson, John Ludden, £20 on reaching twenty-one.
