He lived on 21 June 1880 at Town of Wausau (in present-day Town of Easton) Marathon County, Wisconsin. Descendant George Digman believes his grandfather was Catholic until he came out from his stay in the New Wood country, at which time the priest in Merrill snubbed him. He lived on 18 Feb 1900 at Sixth Ward, Merrill, Lincoln County, Wisconsin.
From the Merrill Advocate, Merrill, Wisconsin, Tuesday, February 27, 1900, Page 5: "Joseph Degman [sic] Deceased. On Thursday afternoon the funeral of Joseph Degman [sic], who died on Wednesday, occurred. Mr. Degner [sic] had been suffering for some time with what his physician diagnosed to be chronic nephritis. Mr. Degman [sic] was 37 years of age and had been a resident of the Sitxh [sic] ward for some years."
