In 1940 widowed Mildred [Bronn] is living in Bemidji, Beltrami County, Minnesota with daughter Phyllis.

"Mildred was born in South Dakota to Henry David Bradley and Winifred Delilah Willison Bradley. Mildred's husband was Louis Brown, he was born about 1881 and they had three children Victoria, Phyllis, Jerry E. Mildred's parents were divorced and her mother remarried Darsy Scaman. She lived in North Dakota with her mother and Darsy her step father. Her mother Winifred died when Mildred was 16. She continued to live with Darsy and take care of the child her mother had left behind. Mildred married Louis when she was 18 and she moved to Montana with him after their first child was born. Louis was a piano tuner in 1918. In 1930 they lived in Crookston, Polk, Minnesota. David [sic] was a salesman in commercial sales and Mildred was a waitress in a hotel."
