Hi Marcia,
Thanks for the reply. Not long after I sent the email to you, I got a
reply from another source that locked in the info I was looking for.
From your message, yes, William Chambers (W. Chambers) is the father of
Elliza Chambers. I got my reply on this from someone studying the
Chambers family. They were able to confirm James Nelson Sellers as
Eliza's husband, birth dates, marriage date/location, and children
matched the data I had.
I feel along with census data and such, I have enough to confirm (at
least in my mind) a line from James Nelson and Eliza Sellers of Indiana
to me. From previous studies, I confirmed James Nelson Sellers back to
Nataniel David of PA.
That means I have some Crawford data. Not a lot though, and some of it
I
think came from you.
Regards,
Roger Sellers

Roger,
Unfortunately, I don't have a lot to help you. I did
just find a census record that is probably for William
H. Sellers (father of James N. Sellers) in 1850 --
Missouri, Maries County, Roll 632 Book 1, Page 609
Directly below the W. H. Sellar family is the family
of W. Chambers. This is probably the family of
Elizabeth Chambers.
I also found an 1870 census record for Wm. H. Sellers
Missouri, Phelps County, Roll 797, Book 1, page 689
Further down on the same page is an Eliza Sellers with
3 sons: Wm H. age 7, Geo age 5 and John S. age 3.
There is a fairly active SELLERS research group. The
web site is
http://showcase.netins.net/web/sellerfamily/
They also have a mailing list that you can subscribe
to. If you go to Rootsweb and follow the links for
mailing lists you can subscribe to the list (or search
the archives).
I'm not actually a Sellers descendant. However, the
Sellers family is intertwined with the Crawford family
that I am descended from (along with another Crawford
line).
So far, I haven't found the family in the 1860 census.
Good luck with your research and let me know if
there's any other way I can help.
