Hi,
My husband was a direct descendent of Ansel Pearce (1776 12-11-1860). I've done quite a bit of research and would like to share our lineage with you. Unfortunately, I did not get this published before my husband's unexpected death July 15, 2003: His name was Donald Morris Pierce (age 66).
Ansel's Mother was Holland Pearce. She had another Pearce son, Thomas. Records are not clear about whether or not Holland was a Pearce or married a Pearce. One documents suggests she was unwed and that Ansel and Thomas were under the guardianship of John Pearce (perhaps Holland's brother). Holland later married John Henry Whisenhunt (1765 - 1819). Some of the Whisenhunt's later changed their name to Hunt.
From Ansel, my husband's GG Grandfather was Ansel's son, Zebedee. Zebedee was born 05-18-1829 and died 07-07-1875. He was married about 1852 to Elizabeth Rush (07-23-1832 - 06-23-1898). They are buried at Mt. Shepherd United Methodist Church near Asheboro in Randolph County. They had 8 children: Braxton (born 1853); Laura Ann (born 1864); Ruffin (born 02-13-1856 - 11-4-1927);Virginia (born 1858); Julius (born 1859); Jane (born about 11860); Alfred (born 1862); Luvena (born 1864).
Ruffin A. Pearce was Don's G-G'father. Ruffin's wife was Augusta Simmons (03-31-1859 - 03-08-1931). They were married about 1879. They also are buried at Mt. Shepherd. They had 8 children: Edward (02-16-1880 - 09-18-1903); LessiC O.(born 11/1881); Colon B. (07-17-1883 - 01-24-1955); Annie P (born 6/1888).; Cornelius A.(born 2/1893); Zula V. (born 12/1895); Lena M. (born 5/1898) and Viva E. (born 5/1900).
Colon B. Pierce (name change)... was Don's Grandfather.
He married Elizaabeth (Queenie) A. Hall (09-21-1883 - 1948). The were married in 1908 and had 4 children:
Virginia (born 1909); Raymond R. (born 1912/13); Penn Winslow Pierce (05-22-1914 - 04-15-1970); Colon B. Jr. (1916 - 1919). Colon and Queenie are buried in Floral Gardens Park Cemetery, High Point, NC.
Don's Dad was Penn Winslow Pierce who married Lillian Ailene Marlow 11-16-1935. They divorced in 1942. My husband, Donald Morris Pierce was their only child. Don was born 04-09-1937 - 07-15-2003. Penn later married Frances Tabb and had two daughters; Dianne and Patsy. They lived in Spartanburg, SC. Penn is buried in the Tabb family plot in Georgia.
Don married me... Vicki Sandra Moore.. I was born 09-16-1938 (one of the Moores from Mooresville, NC). We were married 09-02-1960. We have two children:
Rodney Craig Pierce, my son, born 07-55-1955. Don adopted him the day after our wedding. Craig's father died prior to his birth. Our daughter is Crystal Dawn Pierce Linn (born 09-16-1962). We share the same birthdate. Craig is married to Melissa Lee Stowe and has one daughter, Ashely Elizabeth Pierce (born 04-18-1982). Our daughter is married to Douglas Reed Linn. They have no children.
I hope this will perhaps help you fill in some blanks. I'd be interested in any information you would like to share on other Pearce/Pierce ancesters.
