After her death, The Cardiff Times reported -"Mrs Rosewarner, better known to Cardiffians as Gertrude Lewis, one of the sweetest singers of Wales. Her career, which was at one time so full of promise, had become very sad and chequered."
She was admitted to the Workhouse on the 1st of September 1896. Her age was entered as 38, she was in fact 36 years old.
