Notes
Marriage
They were married after banns with the consent of David Jones by Evan Thomas, curate of Aberafan and Baglan. The witnesses were David Jones and William James. Both William and Mary made their mark (X). Again, William was mistakenly recorded as William Jones.Residence (family)
On census night 1861 was 1 year old granddaughter Jane John, born about 1860 in Michaelstone Parish. With William and Mary on census night 1871 there was a 27 year old coal miner, William John, born about 1844 in Margam Parish. He was recorded as "son". This is believed to be an error and he was probably a lodger. In this census, married daughter Mary is recorded as "unmarried" and her maiden name is recorded rather than her married name. So the 1871 census record for Cwm Ifan Bach can not be trusted.
