Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant 2 Sep 1914. Promoted to Lieutenant Apr 1915 and Captain Oct 1916. Served with the Meditteranian Expeditionary Force at Gallipoli from 2 Sep 1915. Proceeded to Egypt in Dec 1915 and later to Palestine. Killed in acton at Khuweilfah and buried there. Mentioned in despatches by General Murray for gallant and distinguished service in the field.
