Marriage
They were married after banns by the vicar D Evans. The witnesses were Daniel Williams and John Williams. Charles signed his name and Anne Amelia made her mark (X).Military
He served withe the Royal Cardigan Rifle Corps Regiment Of Militia from 14th March 1797 until 24th April 1802.Military
He re-enlisted in the Royal Cardigan Rifle Corps Regiment Of Militia on 29th March 1803 until 10th July 1814. Of the 16 years that he served he was a private for 5 years and a sergeant for 10 years.He must have enlisted again because according to D. Ben Rees in his book Hanes Plwyf Llanddewi Brefi, he fought in the Battle of Waterloo, which took place near the town of Waterloo in Belgium on Sunday the 18th of June 1815.
He was discharged from the regiment on the 26th of March 1818 at Aberystwyth. This was due to suffering attacks of ophthalmia (inflammation of the eye). He is recorded in his discharge papers as about 42 years of age, with grey eyes, brown hair, a fair complexion and standing 5 feet 8 inches tall.
He is known to have been a Chelsea Pensioner (1851 Census for Gorwydd, Llanddewi Brefi).
