He sailed on January 16th, in steerage class, from Glasgow arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the 7th of February. The ship was the SS Laurentian of the Allan Line. (Founded in 1854 as the Montreal Ocean Steamship Company.) It was wrecked in 1909 in Trepassey Bay off the coast of Newfoundland with no loss of life. John was bound for English River, Ontario.
