Marriage
They were married by licence by the vicar Roger B Clough. The witnwsses were Edward Beans and Jane Jones. Both John and Elizabeth signed their names.Will
He gives his wife Elizabeth all his household furniture, linen, china, glass, books, wine and other liquors. He gives her all the farming stock and implements and his carriages, cattle, horses and corn. He also gives her £558 8s. to pay off the morgages on Ty Isha, Hendre, Trillameirch (sic) and Bontweel being part of the Penybont estate, formely the property of her uncle John Jones Esquire of Penybont, now deceased. Or she may spend the money in any way she thinks proper. He gives to his sister Jennett Owen (sic) of Lawrcilan the sum of £400. He gives to his niece Elizabeth, the daughter of his deceased sister Sarah and wife of Thomas Jones of Manchester, the sum of £500. He gives to his nephew Thomas Jones of London and son of his late sister Elizabeth, all the freehold farms and lands called Dolhegog (sic) and Hendre in the parish of Llandderfel, Merionethshire. He also gives him the farm and lands called Tyucha in the parish of Gwyddelwern, Merionethshire. He gives the rest of his properties in the town of Corwen to his nephew Owen Roberts of Rhiwaedog, the son of his late sister Barbara. Any residue and remainder of his estate he gives to his nephews and neices (except for the already mentioned Thomas Jones). He nominates his wife Elizabeth as his only executrix.Probate
