St Trillo’s Church, Llandrillo-yn-Edeyrn

Several memorials at the church relate to theancient Lloyd family of Hendwr, ancestors of Owain Tudur, grandfather of KingHenry VII. Another family member, Dafydd ab Ifan ab Einion, held Harlech Castlefor the House of Lancaster from 1460 to 1468. In the churchyard is the canopiedtomb of Katherine Wynne, who came from the Royalist Bulkeley family ofAnglesey. Her second husband was Richard Wynn, also from a powerful North Walesfamily. They married in 1661, soon after the monarchy had been restored, andlived at Branas Uchaf, near Llandrillo.

She gives to her son John £10. She gives to her son Robert £40. She gives to her daughter Elizabeth of Garthiaen £20. She gives to her grandaughter Dorothy Jones £5. She gives to her grandaughters Elizabeth and Jane Evans of Hendwr £5 each. Son John gets the household furniture. After his lifetime the furniture go to her grandchildren of Garthiaen, except for the "chest" which is for her sons Samuel and Robert. The chest of drawers is for her grandaughter Jannett Hughes of Garthiaen. She wants her farm Tynywern to be sold and the money to be divided between her children John Evans, David Evans, Robert Evans, Samuel Evans, Catherine Evans, Jane Hughes and Elizabeth Hughes. She appoints as her executors her sons David Evans and Robert Evans and also her son-in-law Thomas Hughes of Garthiaen. Jane signs the will with her mark (X). The witnesses were Robert Hughes, Hugh Edwards and Margaret Evans.
