EDEN - Curtis Neal Jeffries, 80 , of 153 Pratt Road, passed away Mond a y , December 22, 2008, at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Funeral servi c e s will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at Hampton Heights Ba p t ist Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Cu r t is was born in Leaksville, (now Eden), to the late John Henry and Lil l i e Murphy Jeffries. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. C u r tis was a former Deacon of Hampton Heights Baptist Church and worked i n t h e Church Food Ministry, he also coached softball for many years. He r e t ired from Fieldcrest Mills as a loom fixer. He is survived by his w i f e of 53 years, Sylvia Terry Jeffries of the home; sons, DeWayne Jeffr i e s and wife, Lesa of Starkville, Miss., Ken Jeffries and wife, Terri o f J a cksonville, Fla.; daughter, Phyllis J. Meyer and husband, David of S u m merfield, N.C.; brother, Oliver Jeffries of Eden; grandchildren, Kati e , L eah, Meredith, Maggie, Libbie Jeffries, David and Jake Meyer. C u r tis was preceded in death by granddaughter, Amy Jeffries; eight broth e r s and three sisters. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 p.m. Frida y e v ening at Hampton Heights Baptist Church and other times at the home .
