McCOOK, Nebraska -- Freda Lucille Olson, 99, died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2011), at the Lake View Nursing Home in Grand Island, Nebraska.
She was born May 24, 1911, in McCook, Nebraska, the daughter of the late John Fred and Eurilla (Fitch) Adams. Freda grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook Senior High in 1929. She began her employment as a secretary in the county extension office.
On Dec. 10, 1936, Freda married Elmer W. Olson in Oberlin, Kansas, and they made they made their home in McCook. In 1959, Freda became the Red Willow County Clerk until retiring in 1977. She has spent the past several years in Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer on Oct. 17, 1987; her parents; three brothers, James Adams, Richard Adams and John Adams; three sisters, Helen Lindquist, Mildred Wilcox and an infant sister.
Freda is survived by one daughter, Janice K. Olson; one son, Roger L. Olson and wife, Twila, all of Grand Island; sister, Doris Bobier of Gibralter, Michigan; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Interment is in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Visitation is Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
Memorials may be made in her name and left at the funeral home.
