Obit: MOUNT AIRY - Mrs. Pansy Simmons Gardner, 69, of 502 Fairway L a n e, MountAiry, wife of John C.W. Gardner Sr., died and went to meet he r H e avenlyFather on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Northern Hospital of Su rr y C ountyfollowing a short battle with cancer. Mrs. Gardner was born i n S u rryCounty on Sept. 1, 1934, to Edward and Bertie Rakes Simmons. She w a s a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. G a r dnerwas a member of the Mount Airy Country Club Ladies Golf Associati o n a nd amember of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include her husba n d o f 49years, John C.W. Gardner Sr. of the home; a daughter, Terri Gar d n erLasley of Raleigh; a son, John C.W. Gardner Jr. of Mount Airy; twog r a nddaughters, Allison Lasley and Kristen Lasley, both of Raleigh; andf o u r brothers and five sisters-in-law, Bruce and Katherine Simmons ofBoo n e , Lewis and Polly Simmons of Crew, Va., the Rev. Ronald and StellaSim m o ns of Dallas, N.C., Wayne and Joyce Simmons of Mount Airy and HazelSi m m ons of High Point. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gardner waspreced e d i n death by a sister, Bonnie Simmons Thomas; and a brother,Chester S i m mons. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday,March 18, a t F l at Rock Baptist church. The service will be conducted byDr. Roger G il b ert, with entombment in the Skyline Memory GardensMausoleum. The fam i l y will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, March17, at Moody Fune r a l Home of Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorialsmay be made to Fla t R o ck Baptist Church, P.O.
