Madge Bowman Jeffries, 96, of 302 S. Kennedy Street, died Wednesday, J a n uary 16, 2008 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will b e h e ld 2 PM, Saturday, January 19 at First Church of the Brethren. Buri al w i ll follow in Overlook Cemetery. Mrs. Jeffries was born March 3 1, 1 9 11 to the late Carter Frank and Hattie Mae Elliott Bowman. She was a m e m ber of First Church of the Brethren since 1938 and was a homemaker. S u r viving is daughter, Lillie Mae Merriman and husband, Jackie of Spence r , V A; son, Douglas Jeffries and wife, JoAnn of Pensacola, FL; daughter - i n-law, Barbara Jeffries of Arlington, TX; seven grandchildren, 17 gre a t -grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces an d n e phews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her h u s band, Payton Jeffries; six sisters, two brothers and two grandchildre n , D wight Jeffries and Casey Merriman. The family would like to exp r e ss sincere thanks to the staff and residents of Arbor Ridge and the t h i rd floor staff at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held p r i or to the service on Saturday, from 12:30 to 2 PM at First Church of t h e B rethren.
