He passed away in 1843.John Platt of Stockport, cotton manufacturer (the son of William Platt, cotton machine maker and Elizabeth, his wife) and Mary Sheppard (daughter of the late Thomas Sheppard of Stockport and his wife, Elizabeth, surviving) took each other in marriage in a publick assembly of the people called Quakers in the presence of Caleb Birchall, tea dealer, Thomas Cash, yeoman and Robert Shepherd, cotton manufacturer on 12th September 1796 in Morley Stockport, Cheshire, England.
