Death
Former Warren Soldier Killed in Philippines...Pfc Glen Ranum, 21, give life on Luzon Island January 27, 1945:Another Marshall county boy has paid the supreme sacrifice for liberty. Word was received here Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ranum that their nephew, PFC Glen A. Ranum, 21 years of age, son of Alfred Ranum of new Solum township, had been killed in action on Luzon in the Philippine Islands on January 27th. Glenn made his home with his uncle and aunt in Warren much of his life, his mother passing away when he was an infant. He attended the Warren public schools through the grades and then went to live with his father, returning here shortly before entering the service to be employed with his uncle at the Pioneer Land & Loan company elevators. Glenn was born on November 18, 1923 in Wannaska, Roseau county. He entered the service on June 28, 1943 at Fort Snelling and received training at Camp Roberts and Fort Ord, California. He left for overseas duty in January, 1944. He has three brothers serving in the armed forces overseas.
