Obit

The following obit appeared in the February 28, 2011 Los Angeles Times:

"Howard Elliott Beckler, a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died Friday, February 25 at home with family in his eightieth year, from complications of cancer. Howard was an exuberant, free spirit, an extraordinary attorney in active practice for over fifty years, and a genuine charismatic individual who lived life to its fullest in every arena. He enjoyed travel with his wife Frankie and family, skiing in winter, tennis year round and of course, his Ohio State Buckeyes football team in the fall. He had a passion for theater and performed in television as a member of SAG in roles as a judge, court clerk, and bailiff, using his broad experience in law to add realism to the show's drama. He liked people and was admired and respected by those who came to know him, and loved by those who knew him well. He will be missed but not forgotten. A memorial service is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on March 4, 2011, in the Old North Church at Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Memorial-Park and Mortuaries. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics or the American Cancer Society."

"Howard Beckler, husband of Frankie; father of David, Debra, Barbara and Danny; grandfather and great-grandfather; brother of Gerrie (Arnold) King, died Feb. 25 in Beverly Hills, Calif. An extraordinarily successful attorney with an active practice for more than 50 years, he tried and won a case in the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Beckler, an avid skier, tennis player and Buckeye football fan, was a member of the Screen Actors Guild who appeared in roles on television and in theater. He will be missed but not forgotten"
