The following obit appeared in the Howell County News, June 3, 2009:

"Earl David Sells was born Jan. 25, 1932, at Wichita, Kan., the son of Earl Fate Sells and Letta Pearl (Berg) Sells. He passed away Oct. 4, 2008, in Wichita, Kan., at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Fate and Letta Pearl Sells, and one brother. He is survived by three sons, David Michael Sells, Timothy Sells and Vaughn E. Sells all of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters Kathleen Buchholz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Letta Anne Phelps of Georgia; and Rose Pearl Sells of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Oliver Dean Sells of Seattle, Wash., and James H. Sells of Washington, Ind.; five sisters, Lillian Pearl Sells of Lincoln, Neb., Nancy Jane Fee of Marion, Kan., Mary Martha Spitzer of Wichita, Kan., Bettie Jean Welty of Wellington, Kan., and Sammie Lee Mostrom of Thief River, Minn.; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. Earl was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Mountain View, Mo. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps on Sept. 19, 1951, serving during the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired from the U.S. Marines on Oct. 1, 1981, serving our country faithfully and honorably for 30 years. Earl was awarded the Korean Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm & Frame, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Mountain View VFW and the AMVETS. Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Mountain View, Mo. Arrangements under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Mountain View, Mo."
