Obit
The following obit appeared in the September 4, 2002 San Diego Union Tribune:Paul "Dave" Seyfarth Jr., 55, was born in Glendale, Calif. to musical parents. Dave began a 35-year career with the City of San Diego in 1966 as a Recreation Leader while he attended San Diego State University. He graduated from San Diego State in June of 1968. During his years as District Manager of Balboa Park in the 1980's, he met dignitaries such as Vice President George Bush and celebrities such as Steve Garvey.
In 1994, Dave's career as a Program Manager spanned a number of special assignments, including the Diversity Commitment, and the establishment of the City's Community Service Centers.
Dave was an avid runner who coordinated, participated, as well as volunteered in the City's annual SuperRun. Dave's passion for running was combined with his passion for travel. He ran numerous races and marathons in the San Diego area as well as the Honolulu and the Great Wall of China Marathons. During his travels Dave ran around Red Square, Buckingham Palace, the Eiffel Tower and Tiananmen Square.
Dave's leisure travels included Europe, Israel, Egypt, Canada, South America, Mexico, Hawaii, cruising Greece, the Caribbean, and the Mexican Riviera. Dave's musical gifts included playing the accordion, guitar, and piano.
Dave was fun-loving, giving, positive, inspirational, and caring in his living. Dave ran hard, kept the faith in his biggest race against complications of cancer, when he crossed the finish line of life on Sept 1, 2002.
In addition to his wife Denise of seven years, those left behind include his sons, Eric and Kevin; daughters, Tami and Takiyah; mother, Norma; sister, Carol; five grandchildren; Rocky and Jasmine the cats, and many friends and relatives near and far. A celebration of life is scheduled for 2pm Friday, Sept 6 at El Camino Mortuary, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, SD. Published in U-T San Diego on Sept. 6, 2002
Dave Seyfarth Jr., 55, of San Diego died Sunday. He was born in Glendale and was a program manager for the city of San Diego. He served in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Seyfarth; daughters, Tami Gray McKelvin of Washington, DC, and Takiyah Gray George of San Diego; sons, Eric and Kevin Seyfarth of San Diego; mother, Norma Hively of San Diego; sister, Carol Schwegman of Idaho; and five grandchildren.
Visitation 4-8pm tomorrow, El Camino Mortuary, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego. Services: 2 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Interment: El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego. Published in U-T San Diego on Sept. 4, 2002
