The following obit appeared in the Chicago Tribune on December 13, 1990:"Meyer Cotton, 70, a manager for Berland Shoe Co. for more than 20 years and a Chicago-area businessman, died Tuesday in Rush North Shore Medical Center, Skokie. A 23-year resident of Wilmette, Mr. Cotton was the manager of the Oak Park and Chicago stores for Berland from 1943 until 1963. After leaving Berland, Mr. Cotton became a partner in Cook County Consolidation, a Chicago firm that specialized in consolidating consumer debt. He sold the company in 1980 and entered the emerging video rental business, becoming a partner in Video Plus, Clark Street and Wrightwood Avenue. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Cotton served in the Army Medical Corps in the Pacific Theater. He is survived by his wife, Alberta; and two sons, Lee and Mark. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge."

The following obit appeared in the December 20, 1990, Wilmette Life, on page 177:"Meyer "Mike" L. Cotton, 70, died at Rush North Shore Medical Center on Dec. 11. He is survived by his wife, Alberta, and two children, Lee and Mark. He was brother-in-law of Elaine Bitter, William Chankin, and Margaret Cotton. Burial was at Westlawn Cemetery in Chicago."
