"On September 5, 2011, Richard M. Kovens, 71, of Towson, MD, passed away in Sun City West, AZ. Rick was born in Baltimore, MD. He graduated in the class of 1958 from Baltimore City College High School and the class of 1962 from John's Hopkins University. Rick was the Executive Sr. Vice President at Eastern Savings Bank. After retiring, Rick and Dolly, wintered in Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Evelyn (Brown) Kovens; brother, Bruce Kovens; maternal grandparents, William and Rebecca Brown; and paternal grandparents, Abraham and Sarah Kovens. Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Alice L. ""Dolly"" Kovens, loving children: daughter, Laurie Kovens of Durham, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Joseph Hyrkin of Palo Alto, CA; stepson and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tabetha Bauerlein of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Sam Hyrkin, Andre Hyrkin, Bethany Bauerlein and Selah Bauerlein; aunt, Edyth Sallar of New York City, NY; and cousins, William and Elaine Fine of Boca Raton, FL, Abraham and Faye Adler of Baltimore, MD and Richard Laken of Baltimore, MD. Funeral services were held in Surprise, AZ and a public memorial service will be held at Beth El Congregation, Pikesville, MD at a later date.
