The following obit appeared in the October 1, 2005, Indianapolis Star:

"Jacob ""Jack"" L. Cohen 79 years, of Indianapolis, passed away September 30, 2005. He co-owned and operated Washington Auto Parts at 2113 E. Washington Street for 65 years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Cohen was active in Stock Car Racing, supplying auto parts, sponsoring race cars, and building race cars as well. In 1992 he was inducted into the Indianapolis Speedrome Hall of Fame for his lifelong achievements and support of stock car racing. He was very proud of the fact that in 1997 his two sons purchased the Indianapolis Speedrome where he was Board Chairman Emeritus. A race at the Speedrome, Jake's 150, held annually in June, was named in his honor. Mr. Cohen was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and Beth-El Zedeck's Mens' Club, B'nai B'rith Lodge #58 and Monument Masonic Lodge #657. Mr. Cohen is survived by his loving family that includes his wife, Betty Dorothy Zaideman Cohen his daughter, Terriann (Richard) Kleiner his two sons, William S. (Wendy) Cohen and Joel E. (Laura) Cohen his brother, Norman E. (Rita) Cohen seven grandchildren, Matthew (Michele) Cohen, Michelle (Gabe) Connell, Keith (Mariela) Kleiner and Lee Kleiner, Jordan Dillon and Caroline Cohen 5 great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Ava and Leo Connell and Emma and Hank Cohen. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Meridian Hills Mortuary. Burial will follow in Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hooverwood Guild or Congregation Beth-El Zedeck."
