He was a Captain in the Revolutionary War and later a Major General. The title of Major General as his term as head of the Cadets, a volunteer Company that was formed after the Revolutionary War.

There is a probate record but not a will.There are three signers on the probate agreeing to the widow Mary Abbot being the administrator and a fee of $50. The signers are Abijah Chase, John Sneathin, and Henry Chase. These seem to be the only three heirs (husbands of three of the daughters).
