Identity

There are those depositions (both in the Suffolk and Middlesex deed records) that has a George and Charles Burroughs who are brothers and also Jeremih and Josiah – these are all sons of George Burroughs and Sarah Ruck who was first married to William Harthorne – Charles and George are adults as they sell property in the deed just before the deposition – but George is a husbandman in Manchester, not a sea captain, but two of the brothers are shipwrights – George Burroughs who married Sarah Ruck is the one who was hung as a witch. It could be that my George is a son of Charles – he was born in Salem in 1706 – but should leave him as unknown, I think, and just give the two options – in this scenario, my George is the son of Charles who was the shipwright in Charlestown and that would be OK – this would be parents Charles Burroughs and Elizabeth Marston
