On 19 July 1717, Joseph Holt of York in the county of York in the province of Massachusetts Bay sold to Timothy Holt of Andover for £20 “my share of the lands of my father James Holt” lying in Andover. Youngest son Benjamin Holt receives a lot of land on the homestead. His two sons Joseph and Benjamin receive all the remainder of the homestead to be equally divided. This includes the stock animals, buildings, and personal estate not otherwise disposed of. His two daughters Mary the wife of Jacob Booker and Hannah the wife of Nathan Raynes, to be equally divided, a 46-acre tract of farmland in York that he purchased of Stephen Greenleaf. Daughter Lydia wife of Edward Ingraham receives £32 and all the outlands and meadows on the northeast side of the York River. His two grandchildren Samuel and Dorcas Holt the children of his son James deceased receive £20 when they arrive at age twenty-one.[1]
