Jacob received one-half ofhis father’s homestead lands in Upton. On 8 April 1769, Benjamin Perhamgentleman of Upton, in consideration of six bushels of Indian corn and fourbushels of rye to be delivered to his beloved wife annually after Benjamin’sdecease and for her natural life, conveyed to his son Jacob Perham of Uptonone-half of his lands in Upton, the total of the lands being 160 acres.[1]In 1790, Jacob’s householdwas six persons at Upton: one male 16 and over, two males under 16, and threefemales.[2] Jacoband Susannah relocated to Spencer about 1796.On 29 May 1795, JacobPerham of Upton purchased 69 acres in Spencer, being the southwest quarter oflot number 40, from Enoch Mason for payment of £225. On 6 May 1796, JacobPerham of Upton with wife Susannah, in consideration of £25, conveyed toBenjamin Perham, Jr. of Upton a 6-acre tract in Upton.[3]On 1 May 1801, Jacob Perham of Spencer, inconsideration of two hundred dollars and 2 ½ years of labor, conveyed toWilliam Perham of one-half of his farm in Spencer containing 69 acres. On thatsame day, William, in exchange for twenty dollars, entered into an agreement toprovide support for Jacob and his wife during their old age.
